Review:

JamesPaterson must be a very lucky writer nowadays. So far we had only 2 casualgames based on the famous detectivestories: Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile and Agatha Christie: Peril at End House (by the way, these 2 games weredeveloped by the same Floodlight Games who created a new hidden objectsdetective hunt Women Murder Club: Deathin Scarlet). And today we are going to tell you all the advantages anddisadvantages of the new sequel of the JamesPaterson’s Women Murder Club: A Darker Shade of Grey.

If you havecompleted the first story of the Women’sMurder Club: Death in Scarlet –you have felt sorry too that it ended so fast. And we were looking forward to thenew detective story being released. And here it is: a brand new investigation, whereyoung ladies rule the world and they know how to track and catch the criminal. As in the previous part, you needto solve the mystery of the murder. Let’s discover all the secrets of the newcase and help the brilliant detectives with our experienced wit.

Three youngladies: Lindsay Boxer (a detective), Claire Washburn (a medical expert) and CindyThomas (a reporter) are together again to solve the new case. Unfortunately,this time you won’t be able to skip the comics’ scenes and dialogues. If you wantto follow the story it is ok, but if you are playing just for solving the puzzles or completinginvestigation, it will irritate you a lot.

So, letcheck the case. A body of the young boy was found at the bottom of the cliff.He was a student of the military academy and most of the staff considered hisdeath to be an accident. But not our three detectives. They started theinvestigation and as soon as you move forward with the case, you will find moreevidences that proves that the death of the boy was not a dreadful accident.

As inprevious part, you play for three characters. This means that you need toinvestigate the crime scene as a detective, then as a medical expert, trying toexamine all the evidences and the body of the victim, and as a reporter – here yourtask will be to find people that know or may have heard anything concerningthis case. You will have to seek for hiddenevidences, solve the puzzles andafter completing the investigation you need to track the criminal.

Graphicsbecame more realistic in comparison to the previous part, the scenes and numberof the objects to be found isclosely connected to the plot. The developer decided not to break the originalgame-play and your main action is to search for the items or objects.

Mini-games variety is also great. In spite of the murder caseand obscure scenes, the puzzles are interesting and are very challenging. Itdoesn’t matter what character you are playing at the moment.As medical expert you will be solving thepuzzle of blood type identifying (IMHO it was more challenging in Death in Scarlet when you have to solvethe whole puzzle to find the answer but not just picking the right color of thebottle). As a reporter you will be investigatingrooms and searching for theevidences and as a detective you will rule the whole process ofinvestigation. My favorite was the scene with the tapes detecting and I reallyhated the puzzle when I failed the database investigation for the second time(as I did in the first part). Skip button sometimes really helps when you haveno time for the case or just stuck.

In general,the game is still interesting, intriguing and challenging. This is the great game to spend some evenings. Thoughit seems very easy comparing to the original first part. But all HOG fans willdefinitely enjoy it.
