Casual game developersknow that formula: hidden object + Egypt make a smash hit. Butsometimes that formula works and sometime it doesn’t. If you are a regularplayer you can easily name some games using this gold formula and you know thegames that made you play for hours and the games that did not even spend theirtrial hour on your PC. The Serpent ofIsis is the game to spend several evenings. Let’s see why.

First ofall, it is game’s catching story. It began a long time ago in Egypt.The father of the main hero was in Cairoand his expedition was looking for the ancientartifacts. A pyramid after a pyramid had to be looked through because itmay contain a hint to the ancient chest. The chest was known to contain themost precious artifact ever: the Serpentof Isis. And after a long time thearcheology group discovered the chest and found the artifact. The archeologist had sent all the artifacts together withthe serpent to Cairomuseum. But one day robbers got into the museum and stole the Serpent of Isis. And it is just theright time for us to help the son of the professor and track the robbers tofind this serpent.

From a stranger’snote we know that five robbers are travelling in a train and they still havethe artifact with them. You need to hurry up to catch the train. But first ofall you need to take some things with you because you don’t know when yourdangerous journey ends. So this is where you start the game. As usually youhave the list of things to be found. You click and the thing disappears in yoursuitcase. Besides, it is not just a find-meclicker. You have to find some things that can be used later. These thingscan be found in your inventory. In the first location, for example, you need tofind the key to open locked cupboard. And so on. And if you see anything thatcan’t be moved, opened or needs any action, first of all check your inventory.

When youpack your things you got into the train where you need to check the cabinsfirst and find evidences that prove that the robbers are still here. You willbe able to visit through the whole Europe and search for the evidences and clues in the most popularEurope cities, such as Paris and Vienna.

Some newitems are the key to new puzzles.For example, if you got into the dark place you need to check your inventoryfor the flashlight. And as usual it has no batteries. So, find the battery,move it into the flashlight – bingo! You can see now all the things to befound. Other puzzles are real brain-teasers.For example, you can click on some objects that are not in the list but canidentify the suspect’s identity. Then you need to decrypt ancient symbols orfind the right numbers.

The gamealso contains 2 game modes and you can choose between Timed and Relaxedgame-play. And the length of the game is good so it won’t end after three hoursof playing. The graphics of the game is great. It reminds the previous goodworks: MCF series or Agatha Christie: Death on the Nileor Peril at End House. The locations and list of objects are unique, but,unfortunately, sometimes the items list has nothing to do with the location orwith the game story.
